Effective Date: April 03, 2008
Terillion promotes personal empowerment and provides you a community to gather, share and enhance your well-being and enrich your life. Since the nature of this site is centered around Better Health, courtesy and compassion are doubly important. Use good taste in describing symptoms and sensitivity towards those who may be coping with illness or have concern for a loved one.
Terillion healthy communities provides a a place for you to meet others and share your health concerns. We encourage your participation to be honest and frank while promoting valuable discussions. However, if reported to us, posts containing an imminent threat of serious physical harm to oneself or another person will be removed from the site. These guidelines apply to all content you post to our site, including text, links, images and videos. To help create a positive environment, follow the guidelines below. Be sure to check periodically for updates to these guidelines as our community expands.
Do:
- Remember you’re in public — the information you post in public areas including public groups and some community features that you make viewable to “Everyone” can be seen by anyone on the Internet. Since health care is very personal, most places on the site provide you with the ability to post anonymously.
- Respect others' opinions — if necessary, agree to disagree.
- Behave ethically.
- Stay on topic — to change the subject, go to another topic area or create a new one.
- Use good judgment — stay in good taste when discussing sensitive or sexual topics.
- Focus on the facts — when rating or reviewing a doctors post honest and valuable information about your individual experience, not rumors or secondhand stories from others. The best reviews include not only whether you had a positive or negative experience but also why.
- Always be thoughtful about your recommendations, as everybody’s situation is unique.
- Be fair and informative — include both the pluses and minuses.
A word about language: Mild expletives and nonsexual anatomical references are allowed in our community areas. However, strong vulgar language or crude sexual references are not appropriate. Communities dealing with topics such as sexual dysfunction and some groups that deal with mature content may have more relaxed rules for personal expression.
Don't:
- Harass, verbally attack, or threaten others.
- Pretend to be someone you are not or claim false credentials.
- Post or link to content that is obscene or otherwise objectionable.
- Use the community for commercial or advertising purposes.
- Post content that isn’t yours — whether copyrighted or someone's personal material.
- Believe everything you read — postings may be inaccurate or inappropriate for you and should not be taken as medical advice.
- Engage in, link to, or promote illegal activities or content.
- Post personal information about someone else unless it’s OK with them.
- Use a review, a post, or a group as an opportunity to vent, disparage or flame another person, organization or entity
- Express negative opinions without supporting facts
- Post or link directly to any content with vulgarities directed towards another person, organization or entity.
- Get into revert and edit battles on Revolution Health pages.
Remember: All of the information in community areas is provided by people like you. The community content, including the content in Official Groups, has not been verified or fact-checked by us, and it is not medical advice or diagnosis. If you need specific medical advice or immediate medical attention, please contact your doctor or qualified health care provider.
Terillion does not edit community content, but we retain the right to remove any content that we deem inappropriate. Violations of these guidelines may result in warning, a suspension or deactivation of your Terillion account and all content associated with it. Groups that are found to be in violation of these guidelines are subject to removal without notice. Although private and hidden groups are for the most part member maintained, we reserve the right to investigate private or hidden groups when a violation is reported or is suspected by Terillion.
You may see things in the community area that you did not want to encounter. You can ignore it, but we prefer you report it by clicking on the Abuse link.

We collect personal and non-personal information to customize the content and advertising you see, fulfill your requests for services, improve our services, and contact you. Registering allows you to use personalized features, health tools and content whenever you come to our site; build a public profile; create and join groups; participate in online discussions; and rate or review doctors, hospitals and treatments.
Opinions and polls: Occasionally, you may be asked to give your opinion when you visit our site. We use information from opinion polls to better understand the needs of our users and to gather information about health care trends and issues. Questions and answers are stored, but they are not linked to identifying information about you and will not be shared with third parties.
Contests and sweepstakes: When you enter a contest or sweepstakes sponsored by Terillion or one of our partners, we may ask you to provide additional information or answer certain questions in order to participate in a promotion. We may contact you in connection with a particular contest or sweepstakes in order to update you regarding your status, to administer the promotion, to let you know that a promotion has ended, and to fulfill other prize needs or contest and sweepstakes related messages.
Special note for parents: This site is a general audience site and not designed or intended to attract children younger than 13. We do not collect personal information from any person we actually know is younger than 13.
U.S. residents: This site is intended for use by U.S. residents. Users of this site from other countries are required to comply with the laws of that country.
Log information: When you visit our site, our servers will automatically collect log information. This information may include your web page request, Internet Protocol (IP) address, browser type, browser language, the date and time of your request, and one or more cookies that may uniquely identify your browser. We collect log information so that we can properly administer our system and gather aggregate information about how our site is being used, including the pages visitors are viewing. Our Web advertising partner may use your IP address to determine your approximate geographic location in order to provide you with location-relevant advertising.
Cookies: We and our advertisers collect anonymous information about your use of our site through cookies. The cookie does not tell us who you are. Only you can tell us that. The information collected by cookies helps us generate customized content, and also allows us to statistically monitor how many people are using our site and for what purpose. Ad Networks may connect information about pages you visited on our site with information about pages you visit on other sites and show you advertising based on this combined information. While we do not control Ad Networks or what they do with the information they collect, we have relationships only with organizations that have agreed to participate in the Network Advertising Initiative (NAI) and abide by NAI principles, which prohibit members from connecting personally identifiable information to information they collect through cookies without your explicit consent.
Your browser software can be set to reject all cookies or to accept cookies only from our site. Most browsers offer instructions on how to reset the browser to reject cookies in the “Help” section of the toolbar. If you reject our cookies, you may not be able to log in or use certain functions and conveniences of our site.
Web beacons: We and our advertisers also use Web beacons, sometimes called single-pixel GIFs, that momentarily direct your browser to a server other than Terillion in a way that may not be apparent to you. Web beacons are used to count users who visited specific pages and determine which emails were opened and/or acted upon when we send HTML-formatted email messages. We do not link any identifying information to Web beacons. To avoid Web beacons in some emails, go to your Account, click on “Manage alerts” and select “text-only” alerts.
Information disclosure to third parties
We know how important it is to keep the information you’ve entrusted to us confidential. We will not rent, sell or share personal information about you with third parties except to provide you with a product or service you request or under certain circumstances as described below. In the event that we are legally compelled to disclose your personal information to a third party, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you unless doing so would violate the law or court order.
Agents and contractors: Contractors sometimes have access to your personal information in the course of assisting in operating our business and providing products or services to you. These contractors include vendors and suppliers that provide us with technology, services, and/or content for the operation and maintenance of our site. Some of these relationships may be with companies that co-brand portions of their site and services or that provide services to you on our behalf. Co-branded sites may have their own privacy policies posted on their sites. If you visit a co-branded site, please read the privacy policy that is posted on that site. Access to your personal information by these contractors is limited to the information reasonably necessary for the contractor to perform its limited function. Contractors have an obligation under their contracts with us to keep your information confidential and to comply with our privacy and security policies.
Aggregated, non-personal information: We may share aggregated information about you with third parties. This is information that is combined with the non-personal information of other users and does not allow you to be identified or contacted. Depending on the circumstances, we may or may not charge third parties for this aggregated information. We also may not limit the third parties’ use of the aggregated information.
Contests and sweepstakes: Some or all of the information collected during a contest or sweepstakes may be disclosed publicly. It may also be shared with a co-sponsor(s) or a provider(s) of prizes in order to update you of your status, to administer the promotion, to let you know that a promotion has ended, or to fulfill other prize needs as indicated on the entry form. If data will be disclosed or shared, we will include a notice at the time of data collection.
Changes in our corporate structure: If all or part of our company is sold, merged or otherwise transferred to another entity, the personal information you have provided at this site may be transferred as part of that transaction. Choice and control over your personal information
Whenever reasonably possible, we offer you choices when we ask for personal information and we tell you why we collect different types of information. You may always decline to provide personal information to us and/or refuse cookies in your browser, although some features or services may not function properly as a result. To make it easy for you to make the choices that are right for you, we provide the following controls:
- My account: You can change or update your account information, including your contact information, marketing, communications and privacy preferences at any time.
- My blog: You can view and control the privacy settings for your blog by going to your Blog Settings. These settings will allow you to control who can see your blog and whether or not it shows up in search engine results.
- My group: You can create or join three types of groups: public, private and hidden. The different levels of access are described in the Community section below. If you are a group owner, you can view and control your group settings by clicking on “Change group settings” from the group homepage. As a group owner, you can also choose to delete your group at any time. As a group member, you can edit your postings to group discussions, and you can leave a group at any time
- Close my account: You can close your account by visiting your Account and clicking on “Close my account.” We will send you a confirmation email with a link that you must click in order to close your account permanently. Once you close your account by responding to the confirmation email, you will not be able to sign into the site to view or access any information you may have saved or created on the site, such as information from assessment tools or trackers, your blog, your clipboard or your health portfolio.
Communications
Email communications: Email communication that you send to us via the email links on our site may be shared with a Customer Care representative, employee, or the medical expert that is most likely to be able to address your inquiry. If you provide personal health information in your email, it will be used only for the purposes of answering your email. From time to time, we may send you service-related emails, such as a welcome email when you register with our site.
Group communications: When you join a group, group owners can email group announcements to all group members. These group announcements will not reveal your email address. If you don’t want to receive group announcements, you may decide to leave the group. As a group member, you can elect to receive alerts for new topics or replies to particular topics you select. To do so, go to the Discussion area and click on “Watch for new topics” or “Watch for new replies.” You can manage these alerts in your Account.
Invitations: When you invite a friend to join our site, your circle (network of friends) or your group, we will automatically send your friend an email invitation on your behalf. We will not use your friend’s email address for any other purpose. Similarly, when you email a message using the “Send to a Friend” function, the email addresses are used to facilitate the email communication and are not retained by us.
Newsletters and alerts: At various places on the site, you will be given the option to receive recurring informational newsletters and to set alerts and reminders. You can unsubscribe from newsletters by clicking on the “unsubscribe” link at the bottom of any newsletter. You can manage your alerts in your Account.
Private messages: Private messaging enables you to send emails to other site users without revealing your email address. Only your screen name (the nickname you select for yourself when you register) will be visible to recipients of the email. We will not share your email address with other users unless you choose to make it viewable by others. If you do not want others to send you private messages or know when you’re signed into the site, you can manage these capabilities in your Account.
Community
Our site features Community areas where people with similar health and wellness interests can share information and support one another. In addition to blogs, groups, forums, public profiles, and stories, we provide the latest blogs, stories and postings from people who are in your support circle (or network). Please remember that any information that you post in public areas such as forums and public group discussions is, by design, open to the public and may appear in search engine results.
Most of your Community pages have two versions. The version that allows you to update the pages is viewable only by you and requires you to be logged into the site with your email address and password. The other version is viewable to others based on the privacy and anonymity controls you select. The privacy and anonymity controls described below will help you decide what others can see about you.
Forum postings, ratings and comments: By default, when you post to a forum or a group discussion, rate a doctor or treatment, review a hospital or comment on another user’s blog, story or profile, your post will be associated with your screen name and your photo if you’ve provided one in your profile.
Your groups: There are three levels of access in groups: public, private and hidden.
- Public groups: Public groups, their membership list, and the content posted in discussion areas can be viewed by anyone on the Internet and can be returned in search engines like Google. The public group membership list shows the screen names and profile photos of group members. When someone clicks on your screen name, additional information from your profile may be visible if you have chosen to make it public through your profile privacy settings. Public groups are open to all registered users and do not require an invitation to join them. Use particular care when posting personal information in a public group since these groups can be viewed by anyone and may include people you do not know. Your group membership will not show up in your public profile unless you list it there.
- Private groups: Only the name of a private group and its description can be viewed by the public and returned in search engines like Google. Private group membership lists and private groups’ content can be viewed only by a private group’s members. Only registered users who have received an invitation to join a private group may do so. If you’re interested in joining a private group, click “Request invite” and write a brief note describing your interest in the private group. The private group owner may respond with an invitation.
- Hidden groups: Hidden group names and group descriptions are not returned in search engines like Google. Since hidden groups, their membership list and contents are not visible to non-group members, you cannot request an invitation to join a hidden group. A leader of a hidden group must send you an invitation to join a hidden group.
Your blog: After you register, you can create your own blog.
- Privacy controls: You can choose the level of privacy that’s right for your blog. If you want “Everyone” to see your blog, your blog will show up in search engine results. If you don’t want your blog to show up in search results, select “My circle” or “Me” as your privacy setting.
Your public profile: When you register, you are automatically provided with a community profile that is public. Your profile shows your screen name and the date you registered with our site. Your screen name, the date you registered with our site, and your photo if you add one to your profile, are viewable by anyone on the Internet.
Efforts we take to safeguard your personal information
We are committed to protecting the security of your information through procedures and technology designed for this purpose by taking these steps:
- We limit access to your personal information to employees having a reasonable need to access this information to provide products and services to you. Employees who misuse information are subject to disciplinary action, including termination.
- We have physical, technical and procedural safeguards to help protect your personal information.
- In areas that contain your personal information, we use secure socket layer (SSL) encryption to help protect this information while it is in transit between our servers and your computer.
We may provide an additional level of authentication when you begin to receive data from third parties, such as laboratories, health plans and physicians.
What you can do to help keep your information secure
Choose your passwords carefully: Always create a password that’s easy for you to remember but difficult for someone else to figure out. Don’t use your name, address, phone number, initials, Social Security number, license plate or birthday. Don’t use names of your friends, family or pets, company names, common numerical sequences or the word “password.”
Suggestion: Use a mix of special characters, numbers, and upper- and lowercase letters. Also, remember to change your password frequently and never give your password to anyone.
Log out and close your browser: Open browsers invite snoops. When you finish your online session, close your browser to erase any information it may have temporarily stored on your computer.
Install antivirus software and spyware protection: Viruses are dangerous. Many viruses are sent as email attachments. They can slip into your system without your knowledge the moment you open the email. Some viruses such as Trojan Horses can capture the contents of your system, including your passwords. Installing up-to-date antivirus software and running it will help thwart these and other unwanted programs.
Spyware is a program or technology that aids in gathering information about a person or organization, often without their knowledge, and includes programs like hijackers and keyloggers.
